The Coney Island has served Schuylkill County since 1917. We're a short drive across town from the Yuengling Brewery, with 24/7 food, Yuengling on draft and in bottles, a full tavern bar, live music, a four-season patio, and a brand-new tiki bar out back.
Independently owned. Not affiliated with D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc. — we just love serving their beer.
Founded in 1917 and carried through generations of the Palles family, The Coney Island is part of Pottsville's coal-region, downtown, tavern, and late-night food culture.

Founded on Centre Street in downtown Pottsville — hot dogs, soda fountain, a shoeshine stand, and a busy social corner of the anthracite coal region.

The family era begins. Generations of the Palles family carry the counter forward.

The name that Schuylkill County still says today.

A second generation behind the counter.

Same family, same recipe, same corner of Pottsville.

The Coney expands into the mall era.

A full Pottsville block, day and night.

Peter Sarantos Palles — son of founder Sarantos (Sam) Palles.
The original Coney Island was established in 1917 on Centre Street in the downtown district of Pottsville, Pennsylvania — the social center of Schuylkill County's bountiful anthracite coal region. Today's Yorkville home, just a couple miles up the road, serves the same family recipe with a twist of contemporary fun: tavern, drive-thru, patio, fire pit, and the new tiki bar — open every hour of every day.

Out back behind the tavern: thatched-roof umbrellas, carved tiki masks, tropical pours, fire pit on cool nights, and live music when it's warm. Same Pottsville tavern hospitality — just with sunshine and a margarita.
A burger at 3 a.m., lunch at noon, late-night drive-thru after the bar lets out. If Pottsville is hungry, we're open.

The Yorkville drive-thru — open every hour of every day.
